Korean Symphony International Orchestra Academy 2021 Application Guide for International Participants

About the Academy

Korean Symphony International Orchestra Academy (hereby, “KSO Academy”) provides a professional performance experience for young musicians who dream of becoming an orchestra player. The KSO Academy plans to provide a chance for intimate cultural exchange between domestic and international participants.

The KSO Academy offers private instruction(mentoring), lectures, chamber music & orchestra concerts and special programs for promising Asian classical music players. This year, the academy opens to String Players (violin, viola, cello and double bass).

 

Schedule

November 15th (Mon) – December 6th (Mon), 2021 (3 weeks)

 

How to Apply

September 30th (Thu) – October 13th (Wed), 2021 at 18:00 (Korea Standard Time)

 

Each application must contain:

1. Application Form

2. One high-quality profile picture within 3 years (in JPEG) * Copyright free

3. A copy of passport (in JPEG or PDF)

4. University Certificate of Enrollment or Certificate of Graduation (in JPEG or PDF)

5. Awards and Career Certificate (in JPEG or PDF)

6. 3 Videos (1 solo and 2 orchestral excerpts) * Repertoire details attached

: Accompaniment is optional

: Links to YouTube and Vimeo are preferred *DVD, USB, SD memory card or in person is not accepted

Please fill out the application form in English and submit with required materials via email (audition@kso.or.kr).

 

Eligibility

Nationality: Asian countries (Excluding South Korean nationality)

Age: from 23 to 34 at the time of the academy (born between November 16th, 1986 and November 15th, 1998)

Educational background: University enrolled student or higher (Department of Music)

Sections: Strings (violin, viola, cello & double bass)

 

Financial Aid

* Accommodations during the academy period

 ※ Exception: Accommodation is not provided to residents of Seoul and Gyeonggi

* Per-diems

 

Responsibility

Participants obtain and manage necessary travel documents, visas, insurance, etc.

We are not responsible for any personal illness or injury of the participant, loss, or damage to personal belongings

 

Copyright and Consent

All rights and copyrights related to recording, broadcasting, photography, and the Internet belong to the organization. All programs can be open to the public.

During the participation, if a participant causes an unfavorable act or event internally and externally, which disrupts the business, the organization reserves the right to exclude the participant from participating in the KSO Academy.
